Bamboo sticks are used in the Agarbatti (incense stick) industry. For processing of bamboo, electricity operated high capacity machines are suitable for industries but not for smaller rural communities who use knife to make strips and sticks. The machine is a set of two devices , one for making bamboo strip and another for incense stick. The first machine is used to slice the bamboo pieces of definite size, thickness and length. The slices cut are then fed into the strip making machine to produce the sticks.

About The Innovator

Shri Paresh K Panchal, a grassroots innovator from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has developed Bamboo Strip and Incense Stick Making Machine that reduces drudgery in Agarbatti (Incense Stick) making and provides livelihood generation opportunities in rural and tribal areas. The machine is a set of three devices, which can slice bamboo, create suitable strips, and make agarbatti. He has been Awarded by National Innovation Foundation - India in year 2007 for best state level innovation and also Awarded by Technology Research & Development, New Delhi in year 2011 by Hon’ble President of India
